Redmi 12 selling for less than Rs 10,000 but here is why you shouldn’t buy it, and what you should buy instead

During the ongoing sales on Flipkart, the Redmi 12 smartphone is selling at a starting price of Rs 9,499. This is a pretty good discount on a smartphone. There is also a deal on the 5G variant of the phone on Amazon, where it is selling for a little over Rs 11,000 after discount. However, we think, despite the discount, the Redmi 12 or the Redmi 12 5G are no longer the best phones to buy on this budget.

The Redmi 12 is a 4G device, and even though 5G may not be a priority for many people, getting a 4G device at the same price as you could get a slightly better 5G phone, doesn’t seem like the wise thing to do. As for the Redmi 12 5G, at the time of the review, we found it to be a decent option for its price tag. “If you have strict budget constraints and want a phone that offers 5G connectivity with smooth overall performance and decent cameras, this is a good option,” we wrote in our review. However, five months later, we think, by the same brand, you can get a better device for around the same price.

We recommend you to look at the Redmi 13C, which was launched in India just last month, and is priced at Rs 10,999. In our review, we found the Redmi 13C to be a “solid phone”. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery.
