Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai told PTI, “The people of Delhi are angry over the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. Protests are being held since that day, but the central government thinks that they will suppress this voice using police force. Today, people were arrested when they were marching towards PM’s residence. This battle will not stop, it will reach Ramlila Maidan at 10 am on March 31. People across Delhi are preparing to go to Ramlila Maidan, leaders of INDIA alliance are also reaching there.”

The Delhi High Court will hear Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s plea against his arrest by Enforcement Directorate in excise policy case on Wednesday.

The BJP held a counter-protest in Delhi demanding the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal as the chief minister on Tuesday. Led by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, the party hit the streets from Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to Delhi Secretariat via ITO. The march was attended by several senior leaders of BJP’s unit.

With the AAP set to hold a protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, Delhi Traffic Police has made special arrangements, restricting the movement of vehicles in the national capital’s central part.

In an advisory, it said traffic in central Delhi will be affected and parking of vehicles will not be allowed on Tughlaq Road, Safdarjung Road and Kemal Ataturk Marg.

Delhi BJP leaders and workers took out a protest march here on Tuesday demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who has been arrested in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

They gathered near the Ferozshah Kotla stadium and marched towards the Delhi Secretariat, raising slogans against Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and alleging corruption in his government.

Senior BJP leader and MP Harsh Vardhan said Kejriwal has been arrested, and therefore, he should resign on moral grounds and give his responsibility to someone else. (PTI)

Amid continued Aam Admi Party protests, Delhi Govt’s Secretary of Planning Department, Niharika Rai, said on Tuesday that public services, social welfare schemes and subsidies are “not affected” following reports that after the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal such services will be “stopped.”

The official also said that people should not be misled by any fear-mongering or malicious disinformation in this regard.

“Public services, social welfare schemes and subsidies are not affected by the arrest of the CM. All public services, social welfare schemes and subsidies currently given by the government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi shall continue uninterrupted. People should not be misled by any fear-mongering and malicious disinformation in this regard,” says a press note issued by Delhi Govt’s Secretary of Planning Department, Niharika Rai, on Tuesday. “A government cannot run from jail. You can run a gang from jail but not a government. A government can run only as per the Constitution,” says BJP MP Manoj Tiwari on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal issuing direction from jail.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday wrote to Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, raising questions about the legitimacy of an order purportedly issued by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from the lock up to address water and sewage issues in the city.

In his letter to Saxena, BJP National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the letter that the AAP claimed to be a directive by the Delhi CM did not carry the signature of Kejriwal, indicating that it was ‘forged’. (ANI)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) protestors were detained outside Patel Chowk metro station on Tuesday while protesting against the arrest of its convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Among those who were detained included Punjab Minister and AAP leader Harjot Singh Bains.

Earlier, the Delhi police in announcements outside the Patel Chowk Metro station said no permission has been granted for protests, Section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits the gathering of four or more people in an area, has been imposed and that the area should be cleared within five minutes. AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj says, “Even from the ED custody, Delhi CM is worried about the health care of the state… He is worried that because he is jailed, the people of Delhi should not suffer because of it… The CM has received information that people are facing difficulties in the tests carried out at the Mohalla clinics. He has directed me to take steps to resolve this… I want to ensure the people of Delhi that even of your CM is in jail, he is only thinking about you…” (ANI)

Paramilitary personnel in anti-riot gear have been deployed on the road leading to the prime minister’s residence and outside the Patel Chowk metro station.

Ahead of the AAP’s protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday said entry and exit gates at Lok Kalyan Marg metro station have been closed due to security reasons.

Entry and exit have been restricted at Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat metro stations.

In a post on X, the DMRC said, “Due to security reasons, entry/exit at Lok Kalyan Marg Metro station, Gate no 3 of Patel Chowk Metro Station and Gate no 5 of Central Secretariat Metro station will remain closed till further notice.”
