Activision’s ‘Transformers’ games are not missing, clarifies Hasbro

Hasbro has issued an apology for implying that the Transformers games published by Activision were lost within its offices.

Specifically, these include Transformers: Devastation, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, and Transformers: War for Cybertron. During an interview with Transformers World, a representative from Hasbro stated that it would not be possible to include the games in Xbox Game Pass because their location was unknown.

“Regrettably, it seems that Activision is uncertain about the whereabouts of these games within its building. When companies go through mergers, it’s not uncommon for things to get misplaced, and that can be quite frustrating,” they responded. This statement refers to Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision, which would potentially enable these Transformers titles to be added to the subscription service.

The representative further expressed Hasbro’s desire to make these games available to fans, stating, “Hopefully, now that the deal with Microsoft and Xbox is progressing, they will thoroughly search their archives and hard drives to locate everything.”

Currently, none of the aforementioned games can be purchased from digital storefronts. Video Games Chronicle pointed out that a few of the Transformers games are playable on Xbox consoles through backward compatibility software, but require a disc in order to run.

Hasbro has since retracted its comments regarding the whereabouts of these four titles. In a correction sent to Transformers World after the interview was published, the company explained that it did not mean to cause any offense to Activision.

“To clarify, our earlier comments suggesting that the Transformers games were lost were made in error. We apologize to Activision and regret any confusion caused. They have been excellent partners, and we look forward to future opportunities to collaborate,” the statement read.

Lulu Cheng Meservey, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Activision, also chimed in on the conversation. “We have the code, it was never lost,” she stated.
