Amidst promoting her upcoming film, Gadar 2, Ameesha Patel voluntarily appeared in the Ranchi Civil Court on Saturday in relation to a cheque bounce case from 2018. According to ANI, she was granted conditional bail by the court. Furthermore, she has been summoned to appear in person before the court on June 21.
The case stems from Ameesha’s visit to Ranchi in 2018, where she met businessman Ajay Kumar Singh at Harmu Ground. During their meeting, they discussed financing a film. Singh, who owns Lovely World Entertainment, invested in the project, but unfortunately, the film never materialized.
Subsequently, Singh demanded Ameesha to return his investment of Rs 2.50 Crore. Ameesha issued a cheque in the same amount, but it bounced. In November 2021, Ameesha made headlines again when her cheque of Rs 32.25 lakh to UTF Telefilms also bounced.
Ameesha Patel is currently preparing for her comeback on the silver screen with Gadar 2, alongside Sunny Deol. The film continues from the conclusion of Gadar, where Sunny played Tara Singh and Ameesha portrayed his love interest, Sakina. The film is scheduled to be released on August 11, coinciding with the release of Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2.
To celebrate Ameesha Patel’s birthday on June 9, the makers re-released the first film, Gadar, in theaters and released the teaser for Gadar 2 shortly after. The teaser begins with the dialogue, “Damaad hai yeh Pakistan ka, Isko nariyal do, Tika Lagao, Warna is bar wo dahej mein lahore le jayega.” Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 also stars Utkarsh Sharma in the lead role.
Recently, Gadar 2 faced controversy when a leaked video of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel walking hand-in-hand in a Gurudwara surfaced on the internet. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) publicly criticized the makers on social media. Gurcharan Singh Grewal, the General Secretary of SGPC, expressed his displeasure with the scene and accused Sunny Deol.
Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma took to Twitter to address the controversy. In a lengthy Twitter post, he apologized if the scene had offended any religious sentiments and clarified that the leaked video is unedited.
