Insights from Ashoke Pandit on the Screening

Ashoke Pandit stated, “I’d like to inform you that we will be screening the film on July 4 at 4 PM at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.”

He further explained, “We strongly believe that it is crucial to screen this movie at various educational institutions, and we have already begun doing so at other prestigious institutions like Jadavpur University and several colleges. Our intention is to enlighten the younger generation about the prevailing issues, which is imperative in the current scenario. Together, we must combat terrorism, and we appreciate everyone’s support.”

’72 Hoorain’ presents a gripping portrayal of the harsh reality of terrorist camps. The film gained attention when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) denied a censor certificate for its trailer. This decision has sparked concerns and discussions about creative freedom and censorship in the film industry.

In a previous press conference, Ashoke Pandit expressed his concerns, stating, “The Censor board requested the removal of certain scenes and words from the trailer, but they have no objections to including those scenes in the film. We find this contradiction puzzling. It’s important to clarify that this film does not target any religion and rather highlights the issue of terrorism.”

CBFC Denies Refusing Certification

The CBFC recently released a statement clarifying the matter, stating, “Misleading reports circulating in certain sections of the media claim that the film and its trailer titled ‘Bahattar Hoorain (72 Hoorain)’ have been refused certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Contrary to these reports, the film ‘Bahattar Hoorain (72 Hoorain)’ was granted an ‘A’ certification, and the certificate was issued on 4-10-2019.”

The CBFC explained that the filmmakers applied for certification for the film’s trailer on June 19, and it underwent the standard examination process according to the guidelines set forth in the Cinematograph Act, 1952. They further mentioned that the certification was granted after necessary modifications were made upon receiving the required documentary submissions.
