ASRock may have released a major leak on Intel Raptor Lake

In an unexpected move, ASRock has provided some information about Intel’s rumored Raptor Lake refresh on its Weibo profile. The post discusses potential performance improvements and a release date window. If the information is accurate, these processors could be among the leading CPUs in the market.

The article, first spotted by ITHome, confirms the rumors surrounding the next-gen Intel CPUs. ASRock suggests that the Raptor Lake refresh will offer a 4% to 8% increase in single-core performance and an 8% to 15% boost in multi-core performance. While these improvements may not be groundbreaking for an updated lineup, they could pose challenges in terms of sales.

ASRock also reveals that the processors will support the DDR5-6400 JEDEC memory standard, a significant upgrade from the current DDR5-5600 supported by Raptor Lake chips.

ASRock is preparing to support Intel’s new CPUs by providing badges on its motherboards to indicate compatibility with the next generation. Both 600- and 700-series boards are expected to support the Raptor Lake refresh, with new BIOS versions released accordingly.

In addition to performance details, ASRock potentially leaks the approximate release date. Contrary to previous rumors suggesting a 2024 launch, it appears that the processors might arrive as early as October of this year.

While leaks about PC hardware often come from various sources like Twitter and YouTube, it is rare for a motherboard manufacturer like ASRock, known for producing top-quality products for Intel and AMD, to release information ahead of schedule. However, it is important to treat this information as rumors until confirmed or debunked at Intel’s upcoming Innovation event in September.
