Days after it was shattered by a bomb blast leaving 10 people injured, Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe is bouncing back and how. On Friday, Singapore diplomat Simon Wong, in a show of solidarity with India, had breakfast at the eatery.
Sharing a picture of himself at the restaurant enjoying a dosa and filter coffee, Wong wrote, “Delighted to have breakfast at the reopened Rameshwaram Cafe. We stand with our friends in India.” The diplomat also shared pictures of his team outside the cafe.
The Rameshwaram Cafe reopened on Friday with heightened security measures after a low-intensity blast occurred at the Brookfield outlet of the eatery on March 1, leaving customers and hotel staff injured.
On Saturday morning, the co-founder and CEO of The Rameshwaram Cafe, Raghavendra Rao along with his staff sang the National Anthem before welcoming the customers who had to pass through the metal detectors installed at the entrance of the eatery.
Police oversaw security arrangements throughout the day. Following the March 1 incident, the cafe was cordoned off as part of an investigation by the city police.
Customers were seen lining up inside the cafe placing their orders. The eatery was back to its normal business serving breakfast to its customers as usual.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case has detained a man from Ballari district, sources said on Wednesday. The man is said to have “some resemblance” with the prime suspect.
The probe agency announced a Rs 10 lakh cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the bomber and also released CCTV pictures and videos of the suspect.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said earlier this week sleuths investigating the blast have “in a way” identified the suspect, and efforts are on to nab him.
