Shin Nagasawa, nagimiso, and Anesaki Dynamic showcase the Varoom and Revavroom line in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet expansion.
The Scarlet & Violet era of the Pokémon TCG has officially begun. Following the conclusion of Sword & Shield, the Scarlet & Violet era launched in March 2023, focusing on the ninth generation of Pokémon games and the new region: Paldea. It all started with the release of the Scarlet & Violet base set in the United States on March 31st, 2023. This set brought about significant and enduring changes to the hobby. The card borders now feature a silver design, matching the Japanese releases. Each pack also guarantees at least one holo-rare and two reverse holos. The lowercase “ex” is the major mechanic of this era, showcasing a double holographic pattern with a horizontal shine and starry sparkle. Full Art exs now feature a green, foil outline around the Pokémon. The Secret Rare section of future expansions includes Full Arts, Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rare exs, Full Art Trainers, Special Illustration Rare Trainers, and Gold Hyper Rares. In today’s installment of the Scarlet & Violet base set spotlight, let’s delve into the new Paldean species, Varoom, and its evolutionary line.
Varoom is represented by two cards, and its evolution, Revavroom, has one card. In the video games, they belong to the Steel/Poison type, while in the Pokémon TCG, they are portrayed as Steel-types. Let us explore Varoom through its Dex entries:
Legend has it that this Pokémon originated when an unidentified poison Pokémon possessed an engine at a scrap-processing factory.
Varoom’s steel section is its actual body. It clings to rocks and converts the minerals within into energy to fuel its activities.
And now, Revavroom:
Revavroom generates a gas by combining poison and minerals from rocks. It then uses its eight cylinders to detonate the gas and create energy.
Revavroom intimidates others with the sound of its exhaust. It extends its tongue from its cylindrical mouth and sprays toxic fluids.
From left to right, Shin Nagasawa has illustrated the first Varoom, nagimiso the second, and Anesaki Dynamic showcases Revavroom.
