Clive Rosfield’s Sword Featured in ‘Final Fantasy 16’ Exhibit at the Tower Of London

For the launch of Final Fantasy 16 this week, Square Enix has created a real-life version of the protagonist Clive Rosfield’s sword, which is now being displayed at the Tower Of London.

From today (June 20) until July 19, fans can visit the Tower Of London exhibit and see the actual replica of Invictus, the sword from Final Fantasy 16.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Square Enix and the Royal Armouries, and the sword is located on the first floor of the White Tower in London.

The creation of the blade took several months for swordsmith Tod Todeschini, who utilized various metalworking techniques to bring it to life.

“The first and most significant challenge was figuring out how to actually make it in reality,” said Todeschini. “I knew from the beginning that this would not be an ordinary sword and would be challenging in every aspect. However, I am extremely pleased with the final result and proud that fans will have the opportunity to view it alongside the Royal Armouries collection at the Tower of London.”

Emma Mawdsley, the keeper of Tower Armouries, expressed the museum’s enthusiasm in welcoming Final Fantasy fans and mentioned that it is “thrilling to see the historic art form of sword crafting continue to thrive in the video game space.”

Regarding Final Fantasy 16, the game is set to launch on PS5 this Thursday (June 22).

Prior to its release, Ryota Suzuki, the designer of Devil May Cry, described the game as his “personal masterpiece” as he served as the battle director for Final Fantasy 16.

“I’ve been creating action games for the past 25 years of my career,” shared Suzuki. “I genuinely believe that this game is my own personal masterpiece. We prioritized designing the battle system to appeal to those who have not played action games before or are not well-versed in them.”
