Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News LIVE: A 51-year-old woman with pre-existing illnesses and who tested positive for Covid-19 died at a hospital in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, said an official.

The deceased, B Somakala, was admitted to a chest hospital here with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), kidney failure and multi-organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), said the official.

“As part of routine investigations, an RT-PCR test for Covid-19 was also done on her and it showed positive. For further treatment and dialysis, the patient was shifted to King George Hospital (KGH) on December 24 where she died around 3 am on Tuesday,” said KGH superintendent P Ashok Kumar in a press release. Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News LIVE: A total of 69 cases of JN.1 subvariant of COVID have been reported in the country till December 25, Health Ministry sources said on Tuesday.

As many as 34 cases were reported from Karnataka, 14 from Goa, nine from Maharashtra, six from Kerala, 4 Tamil Nadu and two from Telangana, the sources said.

The total number of active cases in the country was recorded at 4,170.

Karnataka reported 436 cases, Kerala 3096, Maharashtra 168, Gujarat 56, and Tamil Nadu 139 cases, according to Union Health Ministry data. (ANI)

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News LIVE: Following the detection of COVID-19 variant JN.1 in the country, Himachal Pradesh’s health department has issued an advisory to the chief medical officers in the state to test patients with Covid-like symptoms and take necessary precautions, officials said.

People with symptoms of cold, fever or cough are advised to take a Covid test, Una CMO Dr Sanjeev Kumar said on Tuesday. He also urged people to wear masks.

In cases of respiratory diseases like influenza, cough, cold, sore throat, runny nose, headache and fever, all patients should get an RT-PCR test done immediately, doctors said.

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News LIVE:A new COVID-19 case was detected in Khurda district, taking the total number of Coronavirus cases in Odisha to three, a health department official said on Tuesday.

The third case was reported from Khurda district on Monday while earlier two cases were reported from Cuttack district, said Bijay Mohapatra, Director of Health Services.

“All three patients are having mild symptoms and are under treatment at their homes. Their health condition is stable”, he said.

Mohapatra said the samples of the three patients have been sent for genome sequencing to ascertain the presence of the JN.1 variant. (PTI)

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News LIVE:  The JN.1 sub-variant of Covid-19 has emerged across the world and is also spreading in India. Till now there have been around 63 verified cased of JN.1 variants in India. JN.1 is a variant of omicron subvariant and is likely to spread very fast. It is also likely to spread very fast, said Senior Consultant of Respiratory Medicine at Apollo Hospital, Dr Rajesh Chawla.

“JN.1 is a mild COVID virus and just like in Omicron, you did not see many patients of severe variety and only a few patients had severe disease, in the same way JN.1 is of mild variety. The symptoms in this include runny nose, cough, fatigue, pain in the throat and voice becoming hoarse while some people may suffer from diarrhoea,” he added. 

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News LIVE: In another sign of the improved situation of Covid-19 in Kerala, around 232 people suffering from CoviCovid-19d 19 got discharged from the hospital after being cured. Now, the total number of cases under this category rose to 68,38,761 till date.

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News LIVE: Kerala reported no new fresh Covid cases on Tuesday with the number of active cases in the state coming down to  3,096, according to data on the Union Health Ministry website on Tuesday.

Of the 116 new cases reported nationwide till 8 am today, no new cases were reported from Kerala, while there was a reduction of 32 cases taking the active cases to 3,096 from Monday’s 3,128.

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News Live Updates: Delhi government on Monday offered ₹1 crore as honorarium to the family members of COVID 19 warrior Anil Kumar Garg, who lost his life during the pandemic.

The amount was offered by the Delhi Minister Raaj Kumar Anand on Monday. Garg succumbed to COVID-19 on May 29, 2021 and was survived by his wife Babita Garg and their three children. 

“The Kejriwal government stands firm by each COVID-19 warrior and is committed to supporting their families in challenging times,” the minister said.

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News Live Updates: Delhi Health minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday, said that around three to four COVID cases are reported in the nataional capital every day. Till Sunday, around 63 COVID 19 cases were reported on Sunday. 

Sixty-three cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 had been reported in the country till Sunday, including 34 in Goa, official sources said on Monday.

“There was a meeting with the Centre over COVID-19 situation and we were informed that the cases are increasing more in southern states like Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu,” Bharadwaj told reporters on the sidelines of an event.

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News Live Updates: Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma on Monday held a review meeting with health department officials to take a stock of the preparation of state’s health services related to COVID 19. He also made a surprise visit to Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) here to take stock of healthcare services on Monday. 

Arriving unannounced, he inquired about the well-being of patients and assessed the hygiene and medical arrangements in various wards.

While the Chief Minister found good medical arrangements, the Superintendent of SMS was reportedly missing. 

Covid-19 JN.1 Variant News Live Updates: Maharashtra on Monday reported 28 fresh COVID 19 cases. With this, the number of active cases in the state reached to 153, according to the health department bulletin released on Monday.

So far, the state has reported only nince cases of JN.1 sub-variant. The state didn’t report any new variant cases on Monday. With this, the overall tally of the state reached to 81,72,163 since the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic. 

“There are 153 active cases of COVID-19 infection in the state. Of them, 142 patients are in home isolation while 11 others are admitted to various hospitals. Of these 11 patients, two are in ICUs while others are kept under observation but not in the ICU,” the bulletin said.

Covid JN.1 LIVE: The number of COVID-19 cases reported in Telangana has increased to 8,44,558 after the addition of 10 COVID cases on Monday.

So far, the total number of COVID recoveries to date in the state stood at 8,40,392. According to the bulletin, the total COVID-19 cases reported so far in the state stand at 8,44,558.

The total number of cases under treatment or in isolation in the state is 55. There are no COVID deaths reported in the state today, said the bulletin. The case fatality rate in the state stands at 0.49 per cent and recovery rate at 99.51 per cent.
