While Barbie is currently leading at the US box office, Oppenheimer has surpassed other films like Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie’s film and Mission Impossible-Dead Reckoning Part 1 in India.
Early estimates show that Oppenheimer had a tremendous opening in India, collecting over Rs 13 crore on the first day. The film has found great success in major cities and metro areas, making it a hit in India. In terms of advance bookings, Nolan’s film was ahead on July 21 and had a prominent presence in South Asian countries, including India.
However, Oppenheimer’s performance at the North American box office was not as strong and collected approximately $10.5 million, which is comparatively lower than Barbie The Movie. It is projected that the historical film will earn around $75 million worldwide during its opening weekend.
The clash between Barbie and Oppenheimer at the box office generated a significant buzz on social media. While some moviegoers favored Barbie, others passionately supported Oppenheimer. Meanwhile, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie achieved a collection of Rs 5 crore in India on its first day and is anticipated to earn over $300 million globally within the opening weekend.
