Shashi Tharoor called the incident “shameful” and said that while compensation needs to be provided, more importantly such situations should not take place again.

“The dreams of those youth have been shattered, the hopes of their families have been snuffed too. This is extremely saddening for the country, for its future and the future of the youth. What is most important is to ensure that this doesn’t happen again so that nobody has to suffer through the same loss again.” he said.

He said, “MCD is under AAP, and that party has been also ruling Delhi for the last 9 years. Incidents like this happen every year but AAP has found no concrete solution to tackle this issue.”

He also added that those who were responsible needed to be severely punished and only sealing basements was not a long term solution to the issue.

The MP said, “Three civil services aspirants died in Delhi. A few days back, an infrastructure-related incident occurred at Delhi airport and one driver died there. Failures related to projects and infrastructure are happening one after the other in Delhi. There should be some accountability.”

Two owners of the coaching centre were also taken in earlier, making a total of seven people involved in the deaths of the 3 IAS aspirants’.

“Whoever is at fault in this incident will not be spared. We are taking strict action against those responsible for the incident and maintaining law and order in the area,” said DCP Harsha Vardhan.

He added that apart from the two owners, one of those held was had driven into the gate of the building and damaged it.

He also said that there should be no blame game but they should think about why this happened.
