Details about WhatsApp’s Release of Short Video Message Feature on Android and iOS

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to send short video messages. Previously, users could only reply with instant audio or text messages, but now they can record and send short videos instead of text messages. These real-time video messages can be up to 60 seconds long and are encrypted end-to-end. The feature is currently being rolled out and will soon be available to all users globally.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, shared a Facebook post to announce the new update. In a short video, he demonstrated how the feature works on WhatsApp. It is similar to recording real-time voice messages, but with a video recorder icon next to the text box for making 60-second videos.

In an official blog post, WhatsApp provided more details about the new update. The video messages can be used to record personalized birthday messages, share good news, or convey any information with a personalized touch. To access the feature, users simply need to click on the icon next to the text box. By default, the videos will play without sound, but users can tap on the video again to enable sound.

The feature is gradually rolling out and will be available to all users on Android and iOS in the coming days. To manually get the feature, users can download the latest version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store or App Store.

It’s worth noting that WhatsApp already allows users to send pictures or videos, but the new feature makes the process of sending video messages quicker. The company also ensures that these messages are encrypted end-to-end for secure conversations.

This feature was first reported last month when WhatsApp was spotted testing video message support for Android and iOS devices.
