Set to be released on March 15, these new leagues will be available as a free update and will feature the same advanced Hypermotion2 technology that provides a realistic gaming experience in FIFA 23. These leagues will become a permanent part of the game, even after it undergoes a rebranding to ‘EA Sports FC.’
FIFA 23 originally introduced the Barclays Women’s Super League and the French Division 1 Féminine, and now the game is expanding its roster of women’s leagues. Jessica Berman, the Commissioner of NWSL, expressed her enthusiasm for the integration of NWSL into FIFA 23, stating that it is a significant milestone for the league, the players, and football fans worldwide. Prior to the start of the real-life NWSL season on March 25, FIFA 23 players will have the opportunity to test out the league with all 12 teams available in various game modes such as Kick-Off, Tournament, Seasons (Head-to-Head and Co-op), and Online Friendlies. Additionally, players can look forward to four new stadiums, as well as kits, trophies, and celebrations included in the free DLC update.

Regardless of the game mode you choose, FIFA 23 guarantees an authentic match broadcast experience when both teams belong to the same league. Customized cutscenes add to the realism. The Tournament mode offers a familiar experience, allowing players to select a team and guide them through the NWSL season, aiming to win the NWSL Shield and ultimately become champions by participating in the playoffs.
Shifting focus to the Women’s Champions League (UWCL), FIFA 23 not only includes existing European football clubs but also offers four additional options: Real Madrid C.F., Vfl Wolfsburg, Juventus, and Eintracht Frankfurt. In Kick-Off mode, players can jump into the journey at the semi-final stage or head straight to the grand finals. Meanwhile, the Tournament mode commences from the quarter-finals, with players progressing through the stages to claim the championship. Currently, there is no confirmation regarding additional achievements or trophies related to these new leagues in FIFA 23.
Recent reports suggested that EA Sports was on the verge of securing a $588 million agreement for licensing rights to all 20 English Premier League clubs. This six-year partnership would establish EA Sports as a key partner for the EPL, more than doubling the value of the current agreement. EA’s decision to rename its annual football simulator as ‘EA Sports FC’ came after FIFA allegedly demanded $1 billion every four years to retain the title. The disagreement over terms led to the rebranding.
The free update for both UWCL and NWSL will be available on March 15 for FIFA 23, which can be purchased on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
