Details of Valorant Team Deathmatch Mode Coming in Episode 7 Update on June 27

Valorant is finally adding the highly requested team deathmatch mode (TDM) in its upcoming Episode 7 update. In this mode, players will be split into two teams of five and engage in intense gun battles to reach 100 kills across three brand new maps. The release of this game mode is scheduled for June 27, along with patch 7.0. To mark this occasion, Riot Games has unveiled a thrilling cinematic featuring the return of MaxBot, the combat training robot. MaxBot, previously limited to serving as a vacuum cleaner, seeks revenge by pitting the agents against each other, subjecting them to the same trials it endured.

Team deathmatches are a fundamental aspect of FPS games, and Valorant adheres to the familiar ruleset, including fast respawns and pre-match weapon loadouts. In this mode, there is no in-game economy or buy system, so players can focus solely on the action without the burden of managing their finances. Additionally, ability purchases are unnecessary as they become available through cooldowns. Ultimates, on the other hand, can be charged gradually by accumulating kills and collecting special orbs scattered across the map. The objective is to accumulate as many kills as possible within the time frame of 9 minutes and 30 seconds, divided into four stages.

While players can change their weapons before the match or upon respawning, the loadout automatically upgrades at the beginning of each new stage. This prevents players from dominating the game with a single overpowered weapon. Alongside the TDM update, Valorant introduces three custom maps exclusively designed for this mode: Piazza, District, and Kasbah. These maps feature Weapon Spawners, which are fixed locations offering more potent firearms. However, the power of these weapons is adjusted depending on the stage of the map to maintain balance. In desperate situations, players can seek out Recovery Orbs, which provide a temporary buff that gradually restores the operator’s Health and Shield over six seconds.

“When designing Team Deathmatch, our primary goal was to create an intense combat-focused experience that allows players to showcase their creativity and mechanical skill,” said Kyle Powell, Game Designer. “This mode offers a more liberating environment, enabling bold plays and fast reflexes. We have streamlined various aspects of Valorant to ensure constant engagement and keep players focused on the next exhilarating encounter.” Although TDM is unlikely to outshine Valorant’s larger competitive modes in the long run, similar to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, it serves as an excellent warm-up area to refine aiming skills and adds a welcome variety to the game.

Valorant’s Team Deathmatch mode is set to launch on June 27 as part of the highly anticipated patch 7.0 update, exclusively for PC users.
