Diablo 3 is getting a better season than Diablo 4 – Destructoid

Blizzard has recently provided details about the upcoming Diablo 3 2.76 PTR, which will run from August 15 to August 29. This update specifically highlights the features of Diablo 3 Season 29: Visions of Enmity.

Compared to previous seasons, this upcoming season in Diablo 3 appears to be quite significant. On the other hand, Diablo 4’s recent first season, Season of the Malignant, is rather underwhelming.

It is quite intriguing that after twenty-eight relatively straightforward seasons in Diablo 3, we are finally getting a season that is filled with new content, including a new mode, an interesting seasonal theme, and significant class balance changes.

Could Diablo 3 potentially have a better season than Diablo 4?

Popular ARPG mode Solo Self Found coming to Diablo 3

Firstly, a new single-player mode called Solo Self Found (SSF) will be introduced, which will have its own unique Leaderboards for seasonal content. SSF is a highly popular mode in Path of Exile, so it makes sense to implement it in this action RPG. In this mode, it is a truly single-player experience where grouping with others is not allowed, meaning no trading and no experience bonus for group play.

This mode has been requested for some time now because in the current state of Diablo 3, a group of four players always progresses the fastest each season. While that is fine, having a separate leaderboard that recognizes solo play is definitely a welcome addition. Additionally, SSF mode will also be available in Hardcore mode, where characters only have one life.

Season 29 is Visions of Enmity and will have a Paragon Ceiling

The title of Diablo 3 Season 29 is Visions of Enmity. Disturbances in Sanctuary have created pocket dimensions, accessible through Diabolical Fissures. These special areas have a chance of spawning by slaying demons in the open world. Inside, there are unstable visions with powerful enemies who can create additional fissures, increasing the potential rewards.

Moreover, some monsters will have new affixes, including Enervating, which creates an Area of Effect (AoE) around the monster, reducing player movement speed and cooldown reduction. There is also Necrotic, which reduces player healing until they are healed above 95%, and Resource Leech, which causes hits to remove 65% of the player’s maximum resource.

For the first time in Season 29, a Paragon Ceiling will be introduced. Players will only be able to assign a maximum of 800 Paragon Points to their character, with 200 points for each category. In previous seasons, there was no cap on Paragon Points, but each subsequent point took longer to earn. Furthermore, players can now allocate up to 200 Paragon Points to each specific attribute, compared to the previous limit of 50.

Finally, several significant class balance changes are being implemented, particularly for the Crusader, Demon Hunter, and Witch Doctor.

Diablo 3 Season 29: Visions of Enmity will be available on the PTR for two weeks, from August 15 to August 29. For more details about joining the PTR, please visit the official PTR Preview post.
