DOE Enhances Transparency through Launch of New Websites

The Department of Energy (DOE) has embraced digitalization to enhance its energy efficiency efforts. It recently launched three websites that provide more transparency in the implementation of relevant laws in the sector.

The DOE introduced the City of Energia mobile application, as well as its website versions Enerhiyang Atin and Wattmatters. These platforms aim to increase awareness about energy efficiency measures and systems applicable to government agencies, the academe, students, and media practitioners.

In addition, the agency has established an online submission portal called Designated Establishment. This portal assists businesses in the commercial, industrial, and transportation sectors in meeting compliance requirements.

Furthermore, the DOE has included an Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) portal in its energy efficiency “virtual showroom.” This portal supports the identification, regulation, and consolidation of all EVCS operators and applicants.

“We are enhancing our demand and knowledge-sharing for our customers by utilizing information and communications technology. With the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) law, we have developed a roadmap that includes providing best practices and support for raising awareness,” said Energy Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella.

These websites were launched in partnership with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) last week.

According to Ryder Rogers, the director of the USAID Philippines environment office, these websites can help streamline processes and promote ease of doing business across the energy sector, eliminating bureaucratic footpaths.
