Domino’s has revolutionized the pizza delivery experience by introducing a new feature in its app: Pinpoint Delivery. Now, customers can order pizza to any GPS coordinate instead of an address. This means that if you suddenly crave pizza while you’re out and about, you can easily have it delivered to wherever you are.
With Pinpoint Delivery, Domino’s promises to deliver pizza “nearly anywhere,” including parks, baseball fields, and beaches. This convenient service comes just in time for the start of summer.
Pinpoint Delivery also includes a tracking feature on the Domino’s app. Customers can track their order and view their driver’s GPS location. It provides an estimated time of arrival and sends a text alert when the delivery is close by. Once the driver arrives, customers simply meet them at the designated spot, verify their identity, and receive their pizza.
Christopher Thomas-Moore, Domino’s senior vice president and chief digital officer, expressed their pride in being the first quick-service restaurant brand in the U.S. to offer this drop-a-pin delivery service. According to him, Domino’s is always striving to enhance customer experiences and make them more convenient, and Pinpoint Delivery achieves just that.
This isn’t the first time Domino’s has utilized technology to improve their delivery service. In the past, they experimented with driverless cars and small robots for delivery. They even introduced the ability to place an order with a single pizza emoji back in 2015. In 2019, they took it a step further by allowing customers to order from their car’s touchscreen using the Easy Order option.
