Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has described the exit polls as a “corporate game and a fraud”. He also said they do not require the exit polls as they work on the field and know the “undercurrent”.
Mr. Raut claimed, “There is lot of pressure on these media companies. The exit poll exercise is a corporate game and a fraud.”
“Do these companies conduct exit polls for free?” he asked.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Mr. Raut claimed the opposition INDIA bloc would win 295 to 310 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha and form the government at the Centre.
“The Shiv Sena will maintain its 2019 tally of 18 seats and the Congress and NCP will also do well. (NCP(SP) Lok Sabha member) Supriya Sule will win in Baramati by more than 1.5 lakh votes and the Congress will deliver its best performance,” he said.
Exit polls predicted that the NDA would sweep the elections across the nation and win 32 to 35 seats in Maharashtra. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 23 out of 48 seats while Shiv Sena won 18 seats. The NCP managed to secure victory on four seats.
Maharashtra, with its 48 Lok Sabha seats, is the second-largest contributor to the lower house of Parliament after Uttar Pradesh known for its political diversity.
