EA Sports has unveiled a comprehensive overview of the upcoming Ultimate Team mode for FC 24, the latest installment in the formerly FIFA-named franchise. Ultimate Team for 2024 introduces a range of exciting new features, such as player Evolutions and PlayStyles, as well as the highly anticipated inclusion of women’s football in FUT. Evolutions
Evolutions is an innovative addition to Ultimate Team, allowing players to personalize and enhance their chosen athletes. This feature presents the potential for even lower-rated players to become star performers. With Evolutions, you can upgrade a player’s overall stats or specific attributes, customize or improve their skill moves, playstyles, work rates, alternative positions, or even boost their weak foot ability. Importantly, evolving a player also results in unique visual enhancements.
Each season, a limited selection of Evolutions will be made available. Some can be unlocked for free, while others may require coins or a combination of coins and points. Additionally, some Evolutions will only be available for a limited time during the season. Each Evolution slot has specific requirements for player upgrades, ranging from broad categories like “any Silver player” to specifics such as “a left back with 3* skill moves.” To progress through an Evolution, you must complete various challenges. Examples provided by EA include challenges like “score with this player in your starting XI in 5 games” or “win 10 Ultimate Team Champs matches with this player.” Although you can switch between Evolutions, you can only work on one at a time, with your progress automatically saved.
Once committed to an Evolution slot, a player becomes untradeable and cannot be withdrawn or forfeited.
Women’s Football
For the first time in FUT history, women’s football makes its long-awaited debut. The inclusion of women’s football introduces five new leagues to the game: Barclays Women’s Super League (England), D1 Arkema (France), Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga (Germany), Liga F (Spain), and the National Women’s Soccer League (United States). Furthermore, select clubs and players from the UEFA Women’s Champions League will be available from launch. With the addition of women’s football, approximately 1600 new players join the game, enabling male and female players to compete together on the same field. The integration of new Chemistry links across men’s and women’s leagues and affiliated clubs further enriches the gameplay experience.
PlayStyles
PlayStyles is another exciting feature that enhances player evaluations by offering a more nuanced understanding of their strengths. While every player has a selection of PlayStyles, top players also possess PlayStyles+, which represent signature moves performed at an elite level. For example, Sam Kerr’s power header or Haaland’s acrobatic ability. PlayStyles prove useful for assembling your own team or analyzing an opponent’s playstyle before a match. Players with PlayStyles+ are easily identifiable by an icon on their item, allowing you to recognize their special skills, even if you are unfamiliar with them or their league. PlayStyles can also be customized through the Evolutions feature.
Objectives
The Objectives system receives a refreshing update in FC 24. The page has undergone a visual redesign to enhance its aesthetic appeal, and the objectives are now spread across multiple tabs for improved organization. Additionally, a new Claim All button enables you to redeem all your objective rewards at once, streamlining the process.
Quality of Life Improvements
EA has incorporated a variety of quality of life enhancements based on player feedback for Ultimate Team 24. Items have undergone visual redesigns, making it easier to quickly read information, and special items now boast aesthetic upgrades that further distinguish them. One notable improvement is the complete removal of Position Modifier consumables, allowing you to freely move players within your squad. The Club Search feature has also been upgraded to hide loan players when squad building in SBC. Position searches in your Club now include primary and alternative positions by default, although you have the option to search exclusively by primary positions.
In order to align with ordinary players and Heroes, Icons now have only a single base version upon launch. However, EA plans to release additional versions over time. Furthermore, each Icon in your squad contributes an additional Chemistry bonus for every represented league, which stacks with Nation Chemistry.
The item management process has been streamlined, allowing you to directly equip customization items from the new items screen. Additionally, you can convert duplicate untradeable items in bulk into tradeable versions in your club.
Further quality of life enhancements include improved menus for better navigation through Ultimate Team’s features and a reduction in Squad Battle match length from six minutes per half to four minutes.
EA Sports FC 24 will be available on September 29 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Players who purchase the Ultimate Edition will gain early access on September 22.
