During a recent road trip across the American West in an F-150 Lightning, Farley made a stop at Jim Burke Ford, where a carnival was being held for the Boys & Girls Club in Bakersfield, Calif. He documented the experience with photos and videos, showcasing the electric pickup’s ability to inflate a bounce house and serve frozen fruit pops from the front truck, which Ford has cleverly named the Mega Power Frunk.
Accompanied by a small group of colleagues, Farley embarked on a three-day journey from Silicon Valley to Las Vegas, engaging with researchers, businesses, dealers, and electric vehicle owners along the way.
“Taking an electric truck on a long-haul journey is an act of pioneering, not because it is difficult or dangerous, but because it offers a new perspective on experiencing America,” he wrote in a LinkedIn post. “Transitioning from fueling stations to charging stations requires adopting new behaviors and opens up new possibilities. Thanks to the cutting-edge technology in the Lightning, I am able to accomplish work while on the road, just like many of our valued customers do every day.”
Throughout the journey, Farley took to Twitter, sharing updates on how commercial customers are utilizing the Lightning and highlighting dealerships that are embracing electric vehicles. He regularly emphasized the impressive capacity of the frunk, which was utilized by his team to store their luggage.
“There is no better way to explore America than from behind the wheel,” Farley expressed, noting that his early career experience of spending nearly a year on the road contributed to Toyota’s success in making the Camry one of the nation’s best-selling vehicles.
