Get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Multiplayer for Free on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X until April 26

Activision Blizzard has made an exciting announcement: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer will be going free-to-play this week! Starting from April 19 at 9:30pm IST/ 5pm BST, players on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X can enjoy a week-long trial of the game’s multiplayer mode. This includes access to the ongoing season 3 content, which features the thrilling Pelayo’s Lighthouse arena, the intense 2v2 Gunfight mode, a variety of classic multiplayer modes, and more. The best part is that all your multiplayer progress during the trial will be carried over if you choose to upgrade to the full MW2 game, including the popular battle-royale tie-in, Warzone 2.0.

Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 kicked off on April 12 with a bang. Players were introduced to new operators, a battle pass, and a fresh Gulag arena for the game’s battle royale component. The Gulag arena, known as Blacksite, is also available in the 2v2 Gunfight mode that was first introduced in 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In Gunfight mode, players are teamed up and given randomized weapon loadouts, and the objective is to win six rounds before the opposing squad. During the free multiplayer week, players can also enjoy Alley, Shipment, and Exhibit maps in the Gunfight mode rotation.

One of the highlights of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s season 3 is the introduction of two new multiplayer maps: Black Gold and Pelayo’s Lighthouse. However, during the free access period, players will only have access to the latter. Pelayo’s Lighthouse takes place on a small stormy island and features a central lighthouse surrounded by maintenance buildings, a boat dock, and a helipad. The map offers strategic advantages with rocky elevations and intense close-quarter combat inside the ‘Main Building.’ Additionally, players can utilize the raging waves to approach enemies stealthily and take them out with a swift knife attack.

During the free multiplayer week, players can enjoy a variety of 6v6 game modes, such as Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Grind, Gun Game, Infected, All or Nothing, and One in the Chamber. With 10 MW2 maps available across 12 game modes, there is endless excitement and action. However, it’s important to note that the Santa Seña map is exclusively reserved for Invasion and Ground War modes. Depending on the platform, there may be an additional download required to access the free multiplayer, with different sizes for each platform.

In February, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II introduced its Ranked Play segment, which follows the rules of the Call of Duty League (CDL). The transition into season 3 had a slight delay, but it is now fully updated with new restrictions to ensure fair play. Previously unrestricted items like the SPW 40MM Drill attachment and specific FJX Ammunition Types are now properly regulated in custom loadouts. To access Ranked Play, players must be at least level 16, and all weapons and attachments are automatically unlocked to ensure a level playing field.

So mark your calendars: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s free multiplayer week begins on April 19 at 9:30pm IST/ 5pm BST on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to experience the thrilling multiplayer action of one of the most beloved games in the franchise.
