Impeccable Execution: Unreal Engine 5 Open-World Game Concept Nails ‘Breaking Bad’ Show’s Atmosphere

It’s surprising that despite the abundance of movies and TV shows being adapted into video games, there hasn’t been a game based on Breaking Bad yet. While it may not be an easy series to translate into a video game, an open-world game inspired by the Grand Theft Auto series would be visually stunning, especially if it utilized modern technology like Unreal Engine 5.

Recently, TeaserPlay shared an impressive fan concept video for an open-world Breaking Bad game created using Unreal Engine 5.2. The video showcases the use of advanced tech such as Lumen, Nanite, and Metahuman, which allowed for the creation of a highly detailed Walter White model.

While major game studios have yet to release games powered by Unreal Engine 5, smaller developers have already demonstrated the engine’s capabilities through impressive tech demos and recreations of well-known titles like Dark Souls III.

The most recent major game utilizing Unreal Engine 5 is Layers of Fear, a remake of the previous two entries in the series developed by Bloober Team. While the game doesn’t fully utilize all the features of the engine, it still serves as an excellent showcase of its capabilities, as I discussed in my review.

They say that an artist’s work is never truly finished, but with Layers of Fear, Bloober Team and Anshar Studios have completed the masterpiece they started in 2016. With stunning visuals powered by UE5, improved writing, and innovative gameplay mechanics, these journeys into the darkest corners of the human mind have never been more immersive, although there are some minor issues that prevent Layers of Fear from reaching absolute perfection.
