Instagram Threads Tags Hashtags Adam Mosseri Twist Hash

Instagram Threads, the rival of to X (formerly Twitter) is working on a new feature named called ‘Tags’ that will function like hashtags, announced Instagram head, Adam Mosseri. Threads Tags categorise and group similar posts under the same topic. Despite the similarity to hashtags, certain functionalities of Instagram Threads Tags set them apart. This means, Tags on Threads are different and come with a twist. Mosseri made tha announcement via a Threads post and also invited feedback.

The function of tags on Instagram Threads aligns with that of hashtags. According to Mosseri, when you share on Threads, tags serve as an excellent means to connect with individuals interested in the topics you discuss. Additionally, for everyone, they provide a valuable avenue to delve deeper into their interests.

“Threads Update 🔔 The ability to tag a topic on your post is now rolling out globally so you can categorize your posts and make it easier for others to find and join in on the conversation. Try it out and let us know your feedback 👇🏼,” Mosseri posted on Threads.

In addition to this, according to the official Threads post, a notable distinction between Instagram Threads Tags and hashtags is evident. When adding tags, you use # inline with the text, but they don’t visibly appear in the published post.

Instead, they appear as blue text, resembling a hyperlink in the published post. Furthermore, you can also include a tag by tapping the # symbol on the new post user interface. Instagram parent Meta initially started testing tags with users in Australia last month.

Unlike hashtags, Instagram Threads allows only one tag or topic per post. This means that instead of employing numerous hashtags to broaden your post’s reach, you must pinpoint the precise tag on Threads. According to Instagram parent Meta, this restriction aims to simplify the process for users seeking to specifically search for posts related to a particular topic or tag of interest.

Earlier this month, Threads, in its latest keyword search update, started accommodating all languages, making it a formidable competitor to Elon Musk-owned X. This has been confirmed by Mosseri who stated that keyword search is now “supported in all languages”.
