These revelations are sourced from a collection of emails and documents presented during the FTC trial, providing a glimpse into the collaboration between Xbox and IO Interactive (via IGN). Within the PDF file, specifically on page 33 under the “Expected Release & Previously Shipped Games” section, the forthcoming game from IO Interactive is listed as “Project Dragon.” The platforms are denoted as “PC, X|S,” with the genre identified as an RPG Shooter.
Furthermore, the documents mention that Project Dragon is being developed for XGS Publishing, which is Xbox Game Studios. While IO Interactive had mentioned their work on a fantasy RPG, they had not previously referred to it as Project Dragon.
Although Project Dragon remains shrouded in mystery, the development team has revealed that it will transport players to an entirely new world and IP, delivering an online fantasy RPG experience that promises to captivate and expand for years to come. With Xbox’s reported rejection of Genshin Impact last year, Project Dragon may just be the online RPG game that Xbox has been eagerly searching for.
