iPhone 16 is likely to get Action button, here are list of things it will do

The iPhone 16 series is likely coming and all eyes are on the next big launch event of Apple, which is said to take place on September 10. The leaks have already given us a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming iPhones in terms of specs and design, but here we will only talk about the Action button that is finally making its way to the standard models, as per the rumour mill. Here are the details.

Last Year, Apple introduced the Action button with the iPhone 15 Pro models. The standard versions, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, didn’t receive this feature. This year, Apple is widely rumoured to offer the Action button with all four models. This includes iPhone 16, Plus, Pro and Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 series is expected to come with the same set of Action Button functions that we saw on the previous iPhone 15 models and some new features will also be added with the release of the iOS 18. Here is the list of things that the Action Button could do.

–Voice Memo: Start or stop recording a voice memo.
–Translate: Start translating speech from one language to another.
–Accessibility: Quickly access your favourite accessibility feature.
–Shortcut: Open an app or run your favourite shortcut.

iOS 18 to add more functions for Action Button

The iPhone 16 series will run on iOS 18 and the new software will reportedly bring new Action Button features. It will enable a lot of new functions that will be accessible via the new Control Center gallery. The iOS 18 could help enable features such as Calculator, Stopwatch, Alarm, Home, Timer, Dark Mode, Scan Code, Airplane Mode, Cellular Data, Personal Hotspot, Quick Note, Remote, Wallet, Tap to Cash, and Ping My Watch using the Action button.

How to use Action button on iPhone?

To perform the action assigned to the Action button, press and hold it. For many functions, the Action button can be used to turn a setting on or off. For example, if the selected action is Silent Mode, you can press and hold the Action button to put iPhone in Silent mode . If you press and hold the Action button again, it turns off Silent mode.
