Is it a reality check? Hajj pilgrims wish for the downfall of RSS-BJP, not harm to India

A video of Indian Muslims at Hajj has gone viral with a claim that they are praying for the destruction of India in Tamil. The video was shared by user @HinduHate on Twitter, who alleged that one of the individuals in the video is saying, “do dua for destruction of our country. Also do dua for destruction of RSS and that BJP shouldn’t win.” The user called on the home ministry to cancel the citizenship of the people in the video. The video credit was given to @Mohsinrazabjpup.

Member of the Uttar Pradesh legislative council, Mohsin Raza, shared the same video with the claim and urged the Government of India to investigate the individuals seen in the video and the organizations behind them. Raza suggested that a case of treason should be registered against them and their citizenship should be terminated.

The viral video has been shared by several users, including journalist Surabhi Tiwari and other verified accounts. However, upon fact-checking, it is found that the viral claims are misleading. The video is at least four years old and the pilgrims in the video are not praying for the destruction of the country.

In the video, the pilgrims can be heard offering dua in Arabic for the first 40 seconds, which is a prayer offered when a pilgrim sees the Kabaa for the first time. The prayer is about honoring and respecting the house and growing those who perform Hajj or Umrah in distinction, care, affection, and purity.

The pilgrims then offer their prayers in Tamil, where they are heard saying, “Please offer dua, especially seeking the betterment of the prevailing situation in our country. RSS party must be destroyed. Especially offer dua to Allah that BJP must not win again.”

Therefore, the old video of Tamil Muslims praying against the BJP’s win and the destruction of RSS is falsely viral with the claim that they are praying for the destruction of the country.
