After the release of Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Kangana Ranaut once again criticized the filmmaker, accusing him of continuously regressing Indian cinema with such films. The movie, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, premiered on July 28 and managed to earn over Rs 11 crore on its opening day.
In her recent Instagram stories, Ranaut expressed her disapproval of Johar. She wrote, “Indian audiences watch a three-hour-long film on the origin of nuclear weapons and the intricacies of atomic science, and here we have the same old family drama from the nepotism gang. But why does he need 250 crore to make a daily soap? Shame on you, Karan Johar, for making the same film over and over again, while claiming to be the flag bearer of Indian cinema and continuously regressing it. Don’t waste funds, it’s not an easy time for the industry. Retire now and let young filmmakers create new and revolutionary films.”
The actor also tagged Ranveer Singh in her post and advised him not to be influenced by Karan Johar and his fashion sense. She added that Singh should dress like a normal human being, just as veteran actors Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna did in the past.
“Indian people can’t relate to a cartoon-like person calling himself a hero. Look at the South heroes and how they dress up and carry themselves with dignity and integrity. They look manly and dignified. Let’s not ruin our culture,” she said.

On the professional front, Kangana Ranaut’s latest film, Dhakad, co-starring Arjun Rampal, performed poorly at the box office. Meanwhile, Karan Johar returned as a director after a seven-year hiatus with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, his first film since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016.
