Everyone is agitated at what is happening but you are the custodian of the Constitution. You are damaging the dignity of your chair. No one is stopping you from expressing sympathy but we have never seen you do this before this. One-sided opposition is not right. Don’t make a way for politics in such heinous crime,” Jha told ANI.

Kolkata murder case LIVE: Kolkata police arrested one person for disclosing the identity of the deceased doctor and also sharing stories with offensive comments against Mamata Banerjee, which the police claimed, posed life threats to her.

The accused will be produced before a court, police told PTI.

A woman protestor said, “We want stringent punishment for the culprits. Women should get security. We are not from any political organisation. We have full faith in the system. We just want justice.”

Kolkata murder case LIVE: The father of the victim in the Kolkata rape-murder case, told ANI, that he was dissatisfied with the handling of his daughter’s case by the Mamata Banerjee led government.

He said, “There were three bodies at the crematorium, but our daughter’s body was cremated first. The Chief Minister is talking about providing justice, but attempts are being…not satisfied with Mamata Banerjee and have refused to take any compensation.”

Kolkata murder case LIVE: New revelations have surfaced on the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Dr. Sandip Ghosh.

His former colleagues told India Today that he was corrupt and practiced ethical violations. Earlier, he was also alleged to have extorted money through commissions from hospital tenders.

Kolkata murder case LIVE: The Kolkata police denied Sukhendu Sekhar Ray’s claim that sniffer dogs were sent three days after the crime. They also sent a notice to the TMC MP to appear for questioning.

Police also sent notices to two doctors who allegedly revealed the identity of the victim.

Kolkata murder case LIVE: Autopsy report claimed the cause of death to be “manual strangulation associated with smothering”, reported India Today.

Over 14 injuries were found with evidence of forceful penetration. The report also noted hemorrhaging in the lungs and blood clots in the body but no signs of fracture.

Kolkata murder case LIVE: Prohibitory orders issued by the Kolkata police are in place from August 18 for seven days around RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to prevent unlawful assembly.

It prohibits holding any rallies/meetings/ processions/ dharnas/demonstrations to ensure immediate prevention of breach of peace, disturbances of the public tranquillity in the said area in view of the larger public interest.

The hospital was vandalised by mobs in the early hours of August 15, when a large number of protesters assembled around the city demanding justice.
