Kriti Sanon reveals her rigorous preparation process for portraying Janaki in Adipurush

Adipurush, the highly anticipated movie of the year starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon, has garnered a significant amount of excitement. Despite the underwhelming response to last year’s teaser and the decision to focus on VFX, fans are eagerly awaiting its release on the big screen, especially after the trailer was unveiled. Kriti Sanon, who plays the role of Janaki, recently shared her insights into the challenges she faced while bringing the character to life, just one day before the film’s release.

In an interview with Times Of India, Kriti Sanon revealed that director Om had extensively researched the Ramayana and had a clear vision for the project. The process of transforming into Janaki went beyond the physical aspects and required internalizing the character’s essence. Kriti dedicated a significant amount of time and effort to understanding Janaki’s emotional journey, virtues, and bringing her to life on screen. The process involved meticulous rehearsals and in-depth study of the character’s historical and mythological context, as well as finalizing the perfect look and attire.

She further emphasized, “As a revered and worshipped figure by millions, there is an inherent expectation to portray her with utmost respect and authenticity. Recognizing her significance in the hearts and minds of people, I approached this role with great care, diligence, love, and respect. Understanding Janaki has been a beautiful journey, capturing every aspect of her character, from her pure loving heart to her unwavering strength and immense faith in Lord Ram.”

Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is a film based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Prabhas will portray the role of Raghav, Kriti Sanon will bring Janaki to life, Saif Ali Khan will play the antagonist Lankesh, and Sunny Singh will be seen as Shesh. This movie is considered the biggest project in Prabhas’ career with a budget of Rs 300 crore.

Adipurush is set to release on June 16, 2023.
