Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will not initially support ray tracing on AMD GPUs, according to developer Nixxes Software. The confirmation came on the game’s PC performance tuning page on the Insomniac Games support website, updated today. While there are technical issues causing the disabling of ray tracing, the developer is actively working with AMD to enable support as soon as possible.
If you’re interested in playing the game on AMD GPUs, it’s important to note that ray tracing will not be available initially. However, the PC performance tuning page provides in-depth explanations of each graphics setting’s impact on visuals and performance, ensuring you have the best experience from the start.
Despite earlier claims from Insomniac Games about the importance of an SSD for playing Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, it turns out that the game does not require an SSD. The game will support NVIDIA DLSS 3 and RTX IO as well as DirectStorage 1.2 with GPU decompression, improving streaming asset performance by increasing bandwidth between storage and the graphics card.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently available on PlayStation 5, and it will be released on PC tomorrow, July 26th.
