Made In Heaven, the popular Amazon Prime series, has made a comeback with its second installment on August 10. This season consists of seven episodes that delve into social issues, revolving around the characters played by Sobhita Dhulipala and Arjun Mathur. One episode, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and starring Radhika Apte as Pallavi Menke, a Dalit bride, has particularly captured attention.

Yashica Dutt, an author and journalist, recently expressed her discontent on Instagram, accusing the show’s creators of not crediting her for the scene. She shared a clip featuring the inter-caste wedding and accompanied it with a lengthy note.

In her post, Dutt revealed her mixed emotions upon seeing her likeness on screen without permission. She expressed her support for Neeraj Ghaywan’s work while asserting the need for appropriate recognition. Dutt emphasized that the scene featuring the Dalit author from Columbia, who discusses her book about “coming out” and her grandmother’s work as a manual toilet cleaner, resonated deeply with her. However, she pointed out that her name was nowhere to be found in the credits.

Below is Dutt’s original post on Instagram:

Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of BR Ambedkar, praised the makers of Made In Heaven’s fifth episode. He commended the assertive and resistant nature of the Dalit woman character, Pallavi, portrayed by Radhika Apte. Prakash encouraged those belonging to the marginalized communities to assert their identity in order to gain political prominence. He quoted Pallavi’s words, “Everything is about the politics,” and ended his message with “Jai Bhim!”
