Mark Margolis, popular for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, passes away

American actor Mark Margolis, best known for his captivating portrayal of a disabled don in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, passed away on August 3. He was 83 years old and succumbed to a short illness at a hospital in New York. His family has confirmed the news of his demise. Mark Margolis is survived by his devoted 61-year-old wife, Jacqueline, his beloved son, and three adoring grandchildren.

Margolis’ fellow actor and co-star, Bryan Cranston, took to social media to express his grief over the loss. Fondly reminiscing their time together on Breaking Bad, Cranston wrote a touching tribute. “Today, I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend. Mark Margolis was not only an incredibly talented actor, but also a remarkable human being. He exuded warmth and joy off the set, while displaying an intimidating and chilling presence on screen as shown in Breaking Bad and Your Honor. Despite his quiet energy, Mark possessed a mischievous nature and an insatiable curiosity. And he had an unrivaled love for sharing a good joke. I already miss him dearly. Rest in peace, Mark. Thank you for your friendship and your remarkable body of work,” Cranston’s heartfelt note read.

He also made noteworthy appearances in television shows like Quantum Leap, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Crossing Jordan, Law & Order, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul. Margolis’ portrayal of cartel don Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
