Catherine Tate recently discussed the differences between filming Doctor Who with David Tennant now compared to the early 2000s.

Even with about five months remaining before the BBC, Disney+, and showrunner Russell T. Davies collaborate on a three-episode Doctor Who 60th-anniversary event, it’s never too early to hear from David Tennant (Fourteenth Doctor) and Catherine Tate (Donna Noble). In an interview with the Daily Star, Tate revealed some interesting insights about her return to the long-running sci-fi series. She expressed surprise at the show’s massive following in the United States, comparing its popularity to the Marvel film franchise. Tate also humbly admitted that she is not as knowledgeable about Doctor Who as Tennant, although she loves being a part of the show. Tate also discussed the advancements in production technology since her debut in 2006, revealing that the budget, scale, and studio have all increased significantly.

Tate’s remarks came as she discussed her return to Doctor Who for the upcoming 60th-anniversary event. Joining Tennant and Tate in the event are Neil Patrick Harris in a mysterious villain role, and Yasmin Finney as a character named Rose. Additionally, Jacqueline King and Karl Collins are returning as Sylvia Noble and Shaun Temple, respectively, Ruth Madeley is set to appear as Shirley Anne Bingham, and Bernard Cribbins will posthumously reprise his role as Wilfred Mott. The event will also feature Beep the Meep and the Wrarth Warriors from the comics. Furthermore, Ncuti Gatwa is expected to make his debut as the Fifteenth Doctor. The three episodes, all written by Davies, have been titled “The Star Beast,” “Wild Blue Yonder,” and “The Giggle.”
