Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of Meta, recently engaged in a playful banter with Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter), discussing a potential ‘cage-fight’ between them.
The conversation began when Musk announced that the fight, if it were to happen, would be streamed on his social media site, X.
Zuckerberg responded to Musk’s post by suggesting that they use a more reliable platform that can raise money for charity. He also mentioned that he is ready for the fight, having previously proposed August 26 as a date but hasn’t received confirmation from Musk yet. “Not holding my breath,” added Zuckerberg.
Rumors of a “cage match” between the two tech billionaires started circulating in June.
It is worth noting that Zuckerberg has training in mixed martial arts (MMA) and holds a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Musk later stated that he would prefer the fight to follow the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) format.
This friendly banter between Musk and Zuckerberg has gained significant attention on social media, especially since Zuckerberg launched Threads, which is seen as a competitor to Musk’s Twitter (now X).
The initial spark for this exchange occurred when Musk responded to a tweet about Meta’s upcoming release of Threads, jokingly commenting on the lack of alternative options outside of Zuckerberg’s control. In response, a Twitter user playfully warned Musk about Zuckerberg’s jiu-jitsu skills.
Zuckerberg, who frequently uses Threads to share updates, expressed his love for sports and his willingness to compete with trained individuals.
Given Musk’s history of premature or unfulfilled tweets, it remains to be seen if the two social media moguls will actually step into the ring in Las Vegas.
