Motorola’s new foldable flip phone will launch on June 25, company shares teaser

India has witnessed the arrival of several foldable phones in the last one year such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, OnePlus Open, Oppo Find N2 Flip, and the recently launched Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Tech enthusiasts eagerly embraced the concept of foldable devices, and now Motorola is about to add to this list. The company has dropped a teaser on its official X handle, giving us a sneak peek of its new foldable device.

The teaser, though only 10 seconds long, offers a glimpse of two foldable phones, which are expected to come in a variety of colours. Notably, one phone features a larger camera bump, and subtle variations in materials around the Motorola logo are evident. The video’s final shot shows multiple stacked phones, suggesting a range of colour options. We also see the date of the announcement- June 25. The phones will be arriving first in China. Details about the India launch remain scarce. The video is captioned, “Psst! Some filp-worthy news is coming.”

Motorola hasn’t officially confirmed the names of the devices launching on June 25, but reports suggest that they could be the latest versions of the company’s Razr flip phone. The new Razr models, named Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra, are expected to introduce advanced AI features and boast larger cover screens.

Reports have also said that there might be three colours for the Razr+ and four for the Razr.

Leaked details and rumours have pointed to significant upgrades in the 2024 models. Both the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra are expected to feature a 120Hz-refresh-rate pOLED screen, with the Ultra model sporting a slightly larger 4-inch cover screen and a 165Hz refresh rate.

There are upgrades expected in the camera department as well. Both phones are expected to include a 50-megapixel main camera. The Razr 50 will have a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, while the Ultra will be equipped with a 2x telephoto camera.

Under the hood, the Razr 50 might run on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300x 5G processor, whereas the Ultra will likely be powered by the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8S processor. These improvements, along with possible enhancements in RAM and storage, position these devices as strong contenders in the foldable phone market. Despite these upgrades, pricing is expected to remain consistent with previous models. The Razr 50 is anticipated to be priced around $700, while the Razr 50 Ultra will likely be available for $1,000.

Following the China launch, a global event is expected to make these phones available in other countries, potentially before Samsung’s anticipated Galaxy Z Flip reveal on July 10.
