Mumbai rains LIVE Updates: IMD sounds orange alert across MMR on Saturday

Western Railway and Central Railway have claimed on X that their suburban services were “running” on Friday. However, commuters complained of some delays, though there was no waterlogging on the tracks.

Officials diverted road traffic on Friday morning as low-lying areas like Sion saw waterlogging amid heavy rainfall. The Andheri subway between Andheri and Jogeshwari railway stations was also waterlogged.

The India Meteorological Department has sounded an Orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and neighbouring areas on Saturday. 

“Local forecast for Mumbai city and suburbs for the next 24 hours. Moderate to heavy rain in city and suburbs. Possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 29°C and 24°C,” the Regional Meteorological Department said.
