Mumbai continued to see heavy rain and waterlogging in some parts on Monday, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert, predicting heavy rain for parts of central Maharashtra till July 24.
The IMD has predicted heavy rain for Mumbai city, suburbs, and its neighbouring Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts on Monday and even issued a high tide alert for the afternoon. While the IMD has issued yellow alert for Mumbai and Thane on Tuesday, it has predicted heavy rain (orange alert) on Wednesday.
The red alert has also been issued for Gujarat, Konkan and Goa till July 24 and West Madhya Pradesh on July 22.

Heavy rain since Saturday evening led to waterlogging and traffic snarls in several parts, with the authorities on alert. A mobile tower crashed in Bhandup (video below), damaging three-four houses. No loss of life was reported. Images of waterlogged police stations also surfaced on social media.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were deployed across Maharashtra amid the heavy rainfall warning. Other than regular deployment at Mumbai and Nagpur, NDRF teams have been deployed at Vasai (Palghar), Thane, Ghatkopar, Powai( Kurla), Mahad(Raigad), Khed and Chiplun (Ratnagiri), Kudal (Sindhudurg), Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara.

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and isolated to scattered rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-BaltistanMuzaffarabad, West Rajasthan during next five days.
Orange alert: Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Uttarakhand on July 22, 23; West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana on July 23 and East Rajasthan on July 23, 24.
Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan from July 22-26; Punjab & Haryana-Chandigarh till July 24; East Uttar Pradesh from July 23-26.
Hot & humid weather is likely over West Rajasthan for the next two days. Above normal temperatures with high humidity are likely to prevail over Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi during the next two days.
