Swedish developer Starbreeze has unveiled the details for the highly anticipated Payday 3 playtests on PC and Xbox Series X. This gives selected players the chance to experience the game before its official release.
Interested players can apply to participate in the closed beta, which will run from August 2 to August 7. The selection process will be random, according to the studio. The beta will include a new heist called “No Rest for the Wicked,” featuring the iconic characters Chains, Dallas, Hoxton, and Wolf. Players will be able to choose their preferred difficulty setting and are allowed to capture or stream footage of the beta on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
However, it’s important to note that not all weaponry and cosmetics will be available for testing. Additionally, the beta progress is capped at Infamy level 22 and will not carry over to the full launch of Payday 3.
Starbreeze emphasizes that pre-ordering special editions of Payday 3 does not grant automatic access to the closed beta. Furthermore, this phase is not intended for fans to suggest new features for the game.
“This is primarily a technical test. Our main focus is on meeting our technical goals rather than providing an opportunity for people to try out the game,” explained the developer.
After almost a decade since the release of Payday 2, fans are eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series.
“A professional heister knows that a successful heist requires planning, hard work, and a touch of luck,” states the game’s Steam page.
“In Payday 3, players are given the power to make choices that shape their heist experience. Will you execute the heist stealthily or go in guns blazing? Will you release your hostages or keep them as pawns? Will you tackle the heist alone or bring along friends? The possibilities are endless, and your choices will have a profound impact on the gameplay.”
