Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, and 21 Savage Joining Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to take the gaming world by storm with its upcoming Season 5 update, a truly innovative celebration of 50 years of Hip-Hop music. Activision has delightfully revealed that two iconic rappers, Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, will be joining the game as playable operators, along with their appearances in the thrilling battle royale counterpart, Warzone 2.0. As if that wasn’t enough, players can also look forward to three exciting new multiplayer maps and a collection of ‘War Track’ packs featuring captivating hip-hop music to enhance the in-game experience. Additionally, Activision has left fans in eager anticipation by providing a glimpse of a mysterious third operator, later confirmed to be none other than the immensely talented 21 Savage. As for pricing details, they have yet to be confirmed, but players can expect these exciting collaborations to be available as separate bundles, just like previous partnerships.

Interestingly, Nicki Minaj’s involvement in Call of Duty was subtly hinted at in a promo video released prior to the global launch of Modern Warfare II last year. Inspired by her latest alter ego ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze,’ which perfectly coincided with the release of the Barbie movie, Minaj’s in-game character exudes an aura of sassiness and is aesthetically enhanced with a vibrant pink color scheme. Even her assault rifle is adorned in bright pink, although further details about this unique weapon will be unveiled at a later date. On the other hand, Snoop Dogg is no stranger to the Call of Duty franchise, having previously appeared as a multiplayer announcer in Call of Duty: Ghosts, as well as making appearances in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Mobile. In this collaboration, Snoop Dogg’s character will wield a sleek, silenced, blue-tinted rifle embellished with gold engravings that unmistakably resemble a marijuana leaf, showcasing his signature style.

It’s clear that Call of Duty loves to surprise its fans with unexpected collaborations, and this is further demonstrated by their recent partnership with the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys, which brought Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir into the game, complete with their own explosive finishing moves. The game has also featured other exciting crossovers, such as the inclusion of the legendary Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, outfits inspired by the popular anime Attack on Titan, and even a limited-time mode featuring Godzilla. With more exciting brand collaborations on the horizon, Call of Duty fans can anticipate an influx of unique and thrilling operators, similar to the approach long embraced by the renowned game Fortnite.

Season 5 not only introduces the incredible hip-hop collaborations, but also treats players to three new multiplayer maps. Among them are Livestock, an offshore Petrov Oil Rig, and Harbor, which immerses players in vibrant fish markets and bustling shipping areas. As if that wasn’t enough, new game modes are set to inject fresh excitement into the gameplay experience. Havoc, a classic arena shooter with a twist, incorporates random selection modifiers, creating a frenetic and unpredictable environment. Players may find their operator’s jump heights affected, simulating a moon-like experience, or experience a grenade-like explosion upon landing from high altitudes. And that’s just the beginning! The update also includes captivating capture-the-flag modes and Gunfight Variants, offering intense 2v2 and 4v4 close-quarters matchups. Of course, no season update is complete without a battle pass, and Warzone 2.0, the game’s beloved battle royale mode, gains a dirt bike and an MRAP armored vehicle to expand the range of exhilarating options available to players.

Mark your calendars! Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s highly-anticipated Season 5 event will go live on August 2, providing unforgettable gaming experiences for players on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
