OnePlus Open renders leaked online, shows wider aspect ratio and rounded edges

OnePlus is preparing to make its entry into the foldable smartphone market with the highly-anticipated OnePlus Open. Set to be released this year, leaks and rumors have already provided some insight into the device’s design. However, new renders have surfaced, offering a more accurate depiction of the phone’s appearance.

These leaked images, based on a pre-production unit seen by @OnLeaks and shared by SmartPrix, reveal a wider aspect ratio compared to earlier prototypes. The rounded edges seen in the renders not only improve the device’s ergonomics but also suggest that it may be usable with one hand.

The renders show that the OnePlus Open will have a faux leather-like finish on the back, giving it a premium feel. Additionally, the placement of the speakers has been strategically adjusted to deliver better sound quality.

When it comes to the display, the leaked images indicate that the selfie camera, which is situated within the folding screen, has been moved from the left corner to the right corner. This design change enhances the device’s overall aesthetics and functionality.

Interestingly, the OnePlus Open bears some resemblance to Oppo’s Find N2, suggesting that the two companies may have shared design layouts. However, OnePlus is expected to incorporate unique modifications, such as larger displays and the faux leather back, to differentiate itself from its counterpart.

Taking a closer look, the foldable device’s circular camera island appears more noticeable and may include a ToF (Time-of-Flight) or LiDAR sensor for improved autofocus capabilities. The ‘Hasselblad’ branding on the camera island could be replaced with an ‘H’ logo.

Additional design elements include the alert slider on the left side and the power button with an integrated fingerprint scanner on the right side of the device.

Rumors suggest that the launch of the OnePlus Open was delayed due to a last-minute switch to Samsung’s display panel. The numerous design changes shown in the renders of the pre-production unit indicate that OnePlus has made significant alterations to its original plan.
