OnePlus Reveals Name of Upcoming Foldable Phone: ‘We OPEN while others FOLD’

OnePlus is making great strides in the world of smartphones. Their newest innovation, a foldable phone, has gained a lot of attention recently. In a recent Tweet, OnePlus hinted at the name of their first foldable phone, possibly called OnePlus Open.

“We OPEN when others FOLD,” OnePlus shared on Twitter. Interestingly, this post coincided with Samsung’s launch of their latest foldable phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea.

OnePlus has already confirmed the release of their foldable phone, which is expected to arrive in Q3 of this year.

Leaked renders of the OnePlus foldable device have surfaced online, giving us a glimpse of its design prior to its official unveiling. These renders, created based on a prototype model by Smartprix in collaboration with OnLeaks, showcase a prominent circular camera module on the back, housing three camera sensors with the iconic Hasselblad branding. The rear camera flash is positioned in the top left corner, outside the camera island.

Another notable feature in the renders is the inclusion of the popular alert slider and a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button.

According to rumors, the OnePlus foldable phone is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 processor. The display is speculated to be a 2K 120Hz AMOLED (LTPO) panel with a higher refresh rate.

In terms of camera capabilities, the OnePlus Foldable phone is said to boast a 50MP (IMX 890) main camera, accompanied by an ultra-wide lens and a periscope lens. For selfies, it may sport a 32MP (OV32C) front-facing camera.

As for the battery, rumors suggest that the OnePlus foldable phone will house a robust 4,800mAh Li-Po battery with support for 100W SuperVOOC charging.

Sources indicate that the OnePlus foldable phone is expected to debut in August and will be launched in India, China, and the United States. However, it’s important to note that these details are based on rumors and leaks and should be taken with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.
