OnePlus Watch 2 officially teased, launch expected on February 26

OnePlus is all set to launch a new watch in the market soon. Teasing the design of its second watch, OnePlus wrote, “It’s about time”, the company did not share any details regarding its launch. However, as per leaksters, the device may debut on February 26 in MWC, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain. OnePlus has not officially revealed the launch date yet.

Tipster Max Jambor, who often shares information about upcoming gadgets, previously said the OnePlus Watch 2 would launch during MWC 2024. Now, he’s saying it’ll be on February 26th. OnePlus, the company behind the watch, posted a teaser image on their community forum and asked people to guess what it is. But here’s the catch: they only want incorrect guesses. You have until February 26th at 5:00 PM in India to submit your wrong answer. This timing might coincide with the launch of the OnePlus Watch 2. Additionally, the contest is open to people in India, North America, and Europe, hinting that these regions are likely where the watch will be available for purchase.

The OnePlus Watch 2 is expected to feature a round dial with a bump on the right side, as seen in leaked images. This bump likely houses two buttons, adding a distinctive look to the watch. The opposite side seems to have a speaker grille, while sensors on the underside track health metrics. The watch may sport a thick bezel surrounding the display, offering various analog and digital watch face options. The screen is rumored to be a 1.43-inch AMOLED display.

In the leaked images, the frame of the OnePlus Watch 2 appears to have a sleek finish. However, we’re unsure about the materials used for both the body and the strap. The strapping mechanism resembles that of Apple watches.

The leaks showcased the Watch 2 in Black and light Grey colors.Under the hood, the watch might pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 SoC. It’s anticipated to retain features like GPS and 5ATM+ IP68 dust and water resistance from its predecessor.

There’s speculation about whether the watch will run on a custom RTOS or WearOS. The former might seem unlikely given the powerful Snapdragon chip mentioned earlier. We’ll have to wait for the official unveiling to confirm this. Stay tuned for updates!
