OpenAI working on 2 AI agents that could automate complex tasks: Report | Technology News

It is well-known that AI can now automate nearly all tasks, but can they automate entire work processes? AI powerhouse OpenAI may have some answers. Reportedly, the Sam Altman-led company is developing two unique types of AI that have the potential to automate complex tasks.

A report in The Information states that OpenAI is currently working on a type of agent that could use a user’s device to perform tasks such as data transfer between spreadsheets and documents, and even filing expense reports. The agent does all it takes to fill the forms, entirely eliminating human intervention. Meanwhile, the other AI agent has been designed to perform tasks based on the web, such as curating travel itineraries, gathering public data, and even booking air tickets.

Last year, another report by The Information revealed that OpenAI had plans to turn ChatGPT into a supersmart personal assistant at work. The latest developments seem to be in line with the earlier report. Reportedly, the advanced AI assistant will have in-depth knowledge of individual employees and their workplaces. It will perform all personal assistant tasks like writing emails, and reports in a style similar to that employee. However, it is not known if the AI assistant will be a standalone product or will be a part of an AI software suite by the company.

OpenAI’s latest advancement merges capabilities of various GPTs, advancing toward personalised, universal AI assistance. The company’s plans reportedly involve automatic learning for model optimisation. As per CEO Sam Altman, the Assistant API marks a move towards comprehensive AI agents, promising further enhancements and capabilities down the line.

The development comes at a time when Sam Altman is aiming to raise $5-7 trillion by engaging UAE and other investors, to overhaul semiconductors, alleviate AI chip shortages, and advance AGI. OpenAI has yet to give any official statement about the Advanced AI assistant, however, the company has been consistently working towards improving its models. Earlier this year, OpenAI rolled out a new feature for ChatGPT, known as GPT Mentions. This feature enables users to seamlessly integrate custom GPTs or bots into conversations by tagging them, reminiscent of Slack.

Festive offer

During OpenAI’s inaugural developer conference, they unveiled Custom GPTs, empowering users to craft their own bots and potentially monetise them through the newly introduced GPT Store. This marketplace offers a platform to discover and utilise diverse custom iterations of GPT developed by the community.
