Overwatch 2 Launches One-Punch Man Collaboration: Saitama-inspired Doomfist and Additional Features Revealed

The collaboration event between Overwatch 2 and the incredibly popular anime One-Punch Man is now live. This marks Blizzard’s first crossover with another intellectual property in their team-based shooter game, and it brings a fresh set of skins and cosmetic items inspired by the anime. The event will run for a month until April 6, giving players the opportunity to complete in-game challenges and unlock rewards, including a free Legendary status Mumen Rider Soldier: 76 skin. Additional skins can be purchased from the in-game shop using Overwatch Coins.

The four heroes featured in the Overwatch 2 x One-Punch Man collaboration maintain their usual movesets but have been transformed to resemble characters from the anime. “As passionate anime fans and lovers of One-Punch Man, we are incredibly excited to introduce this collaboration to our players worldwide. The Overwatch universe presents an optimistic vision of Earth’s near future, so it’s only fitting for Doomfist to cosplay as Saitama,” stated Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment. Doomfist, known for his devastatingly powerful punches, represents Saitama, and both characters share the distinction of being bald.

For 2,500 Overwatch Coins, players can unlock the Doomfist-Saitama bundle, which includes the skin, a ‘Saitama Punch’ highlight intro, an exclusive name card, the ‘Training Regiment’ emote, and a voice line with the quote “One Hundred Push-Ups…”. Next on the list is the healing ninja Kiriko, designed after the tornado-bending professional hero Tatsumaki. Kiriko’s bundle costs 2,100 Overwatch Coins and offers a victory pose and a name card in addition to the skin. The most affordable bundle is Genos Genji, the cybernetic disciple of Saitama, priced at 1,900 Overwatch Coins and providing a skin and a name card.

Alternatively, players have the option to purchase the One-Punch Man Mega bundle, which includes all the aforementioned items for 4,400 in-game currency units. This represents a savings of 2,100 units compared to buying the items individually. Coins can be acquired from the in-game store directly at a price of $19.99 (approximately Rs. 1,637) for a bundle of 2,000 units. They can also be earned in smaller amounts by completing weekly challenges.

As previously mentioned, the fourth skin inspired by Mumen Rider can be unlocked by completing exclusive challenges, which are part of a total of six different rewards. Players have a full month to play 24 complete matches, regardless of the game mode they choose (Arcade, Competitive, or Casual), in order to unlock the special skin for Soldier: 76. The rewards for reaching each milestone are as follows:

  • 4 games played — Saitama’s Fist Weapon Charm
  • 8 games played — Mumen Rider Name Card
  • 12 games played — Cyclist of Justice Victory Pose for Soldier: 76
  • 16 games played — Justice Crash Highlight Intro for Soldier: 76
  • 20 games played — Boros Weapon Charm
  • 24 games played — Legendary Mumen Rider-Soldier: 76 skin

Additionally, Overwatch 2 is currently running its Season 3 event, which introduces an Asian mythology theme and a new ice-based Control map called Antarctic Peninsula. The annual PachiMarchi event is also returning on March 21, featuring a limited-time ‘Kill Confirmed’ mode and a Roadhog skin with a Pachimari tattoo on his round belly. On the other hand, fans of the One-Punch Man anime series can look forward to its third season, announced last year, with a poster showcasing Saitama and Hero Hunter Garou.

The Overwatch 2 x One-Punch Man event is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
