Parliament Winter Session, Day 15 Live Updates: LS is set to hold discussions on the three reworked criminal law reform Bills, provided the Parliament gridlock ends.
Parliament Winter Session 2023 Live Updates, Day 15: Chaotic scenes unfolded in Lok Sabha once again, as Om Birla gave a statement on the LS security breach and urged the Opposition to ‘not politicise the issue’. His statement triggered massive uproar in the House, leading to a swift adjournment. Opposition MPs chanted ‘BJP jawaab do, sadan se bhaagna band karo‘ (BJP, give us answers, stop running away from Parliament) once the House reconvened.
Earlier in the day, Congress MP and leader of the party in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak in Parliament over the security breach issue, criticising him for taking “four days” to react to the incident. On Sunday, Chowdhury had written to Speaker Om Birla, urging him to rescind the suspension of 13 Opposition members of the House. The MPs, he said, raised “very troubling issues” in the wake of the Parliament security breach and deserve a fair hearing.

Parliament Winter Session Live Updates, December 18: Parliament gridlock likely to resume: 14 Oppn MPs suspended, LS security breach
Opp suspensions over House ruckus, not security breach: Om Birla letter to MPs
Amid continuing logjam in Parliament over Wednesday’s security breach, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Saturday urged members to give primacy to the dignity and decorum of the House and clarified that suspension of 13 MPs on Thursday was not in relation to the incidence of the breach but for creating ruckus in the House.
“It is indeed unfortunate that some Hon’ble Members and political parties are linking the decision of the House to suspend some Hon’ble Members from the service of the House to the incident which occurred on 13th December, 2023. This is unwarranted. There is no association between the suspension of Hon’ble Members and the incident which took place on 13th December, 2023. The suspension of Hon’ble Members is purely to uphold the sanctity of the House,” Birla has written in a letter addressed to all MPs.

Krishan Kant, was heading to the exit gate of Parliament meant for the “V-P”; the convoy of cars parked outside the gate was ready to take him to his residence. The back door of his car had already been opened for him.
Kant had almost reached the exit gate, when someone came running after him. A group of MPs had come to his chamber to see him urgently. The V-P turned around and went back to his chamber.
While Kant was talking to the MPs in his office, there were sound of firing from outside. A car (with terrorists) came towards his vehicle and scraped it and firing ensued; a security guard from his team was killed. The massive Parliament gates were hastily closed.
