A plea has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court today against the suspension of internet services in several districts of Haryana and the sealing of borders, in view of over 200 farmers’ unions gearing up for the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march from Punjab. Earlier in the day, prohibitory orders under Section 144 were imposed at Delhi’s Ghazipur, Singhu and Tikri borders, ahead of the farmers’ march. The police has also put up barricades and ensured the presence of DCP-level officers of Outer districts (Outer North and Outer) at the border sites to ensure that law and order is maintained. The farmers’ leaders will meet the union government at 5 pm today to press the Centre for accepting their demands, including enactment of a law to guarantee a minimum support price (MSP) for crops, following which they would proceed to Delhi based on the outcomes of the talks.
