Pokémon TCG is launching pre-release events for its new set, Scarlet & Violet – Obsidian Flames. These events will take place at authorized game stores and will give players and collectors the opportunity to try out this Charizard-themed expansion before its official release. The expansion introduces Tera-types, which are Pokémon with types that differ from their base types. For example, Tera Charizard ex appears as a Dark-type. Stores will be selling Build & Battle kits of Scarlet & Violet – Obsidian Flames, which include four packs and a deck-building kit. The kits also come with one of four SV Black Star Promo cards stamped with the set logo. Some stores may offer three packs of Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet – Obsidian Flames to customers who purchase the kit. However, booster boxes and Elite Trainer Boxes will not be available for sale at these events.
In addition to the pre-release events, Pokémon TCG has announced its upcoming releases for the third quarter of 2023:
1. 2023 Collector’s Chest (available August 4, 2023): This chest will retail for $29.99 and includes six booster packs and holographic versions of cards from Scarlet & Violet – Paldea Evolved featuring the Paldean Starters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
2. Back to School Pencil Tin (available August 4, 2023): This includes two booster packs and a Pikachu-themed pencil case.
3. Back to School Eraser Blisters (available August 4, 2023): This includes two booster packs and either a Lechonk or Smoliv eraser.
4. Scarlet & Violet – Obsidian Flames drop (available August 11, 2023): This set includes booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes with a Charmander SV Black Star Promo card, three-pack blisters with Eevee and Houndstone SV Black Star Promo cards, a single-pack blister with a Pawmi SV Black Star Promo card, and more.
5. Trick or Trade BOOster Packs 2023 (available September 1, 2023): This bag contains 50 Halloween-themed booster packs with reprint cards from other sets, featuring a spooky stamp on the artwork. It retails for $19.99.
6. Paldea Partner tins (available September 1, 2023): These tins feature Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex, or Quaquaval ex as SV Black Star Promos. Each tin comes with five Pokémon TCG booster packs and retails for $26.99.
7. Meowscarada ex Deluxe Battle Deck (available September 1, 2023): This product includes reprint cards only and no new promo cards. It features Meowscarada ex from Paldea Evolved and Radiant Alakazam. It retails for $19.99.
8. Quaquaval ex Deluxe Battle Deck (available September 1, 2023): This product also includes reprint cards only and no new promo cards. It features Quaquaval ex from Paldea Evolved and Radiant Greninja. It retails for $19.99.
9. Oinkologne ex Box (available September 1st, 2023): This box includes an Oinkologne ex reprint card, a jumbo version of Oinkologne ex, a holographic card featuring Lechonk, and four booster packs. It will retail for $21.99 and is exclusive to Best Buy.
10. Scarlet & Violet—151 Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box (available only online): This box includes 11 Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs, two Snorlax illustration rare-style promo cards (one featuring the Pokémon Center logo), and various gameplay accessories.
11. Scarlet & Violet—151 Elite Trainer Box (available September 22, 2023): This box includes nine Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs, one Snorlax illustration rare-style promo card, and various gameplay accessories.
12. Scarlet & Violet—151 Poster Collection (available September 22, 2023): This collection includes three Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs, three promo cards featuring Kanto first partner Pokémon, and one full-size, two-sided poster featuring the original 151 Pokémon and their card illustrations.
13. Scarlet & Violet—151 Binder Collection (available September 22, 2023): This collection includes four Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs and a nine-pocket album that holds up to 360 Pokémon TCG cards.
14. Scarlet & Violet—151 Booster Bundle (available September 22, 2023): This bundle includes six Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs.
15. Scarlet & Violet—151 Ultra-Premium Collection (available October 6, 2023): This collection includes 16 Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs, a metal card featuring hyper rare Mew ex, special illustration rare promo cards featuring Mew ex and Mewtwo, a stitched-edge playmat featuring Mew, a deck box, a coin featuring Mew, and various gameplay accessories.
16. Scarlet & Violet—151 ex Box—Alakazam ex (available October 6, 2023): This box includes four Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs, a double rare card featuring Alakazam ex, and two foil promo cards featuring Kadabra and Abra.
17. Scarlet & Violet—151 ex Box—Zapdos ex (available October 6, 2023): This box includes four Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs, a double rare card featuring Zapdos ex, a foil promo card featuring Electabuzz, and an oversize card featuring Zapdos ex.
18. Scarlet & Violet—151 Mini Tin Collection (available October 6, 2023): Each tin includes two Scarlet & Violet—151 booster packs, a coin with a unique style featuring one of the Energy type symbols, and an art card matching the tin.
19. Kangaskhan ex Battle Deck (available October 6, 2023): This ex Battle Deck features Kangaskhan ex as an SV Black Star Promo. It retails for $9.99.
20. Greninja ex Battle Deck (available October 6, 2023): This ex Battle Deck features Greninja ex as an SV Black Star Promo. It retails for $9.99.
