Filming for Squid Game 2 has reportedly commenced this week with T.O.P joining the cast without any issues. The reality series is said to have started shooting in Seoul and Incheon, with Lee Jung Jae quietly completing his first recording.

Former K-Pop boy group BIGBANG member T.O.P has joined the filming as planned. He is expected to portray the role of a retired idol participating in the competition, and his character is anticipated to be more significant than originally thought.

Despite the controversies surrounding the show’s cast, Squid Game 2 recently held its first script reading. Neither Netflix nor director Hwang Dong Hyuk has released an official statement regarding the matter.

In 2017, Choi Seung Hyun, also known as T.O.P, was found guilty of consuming illegal marijuana and received a two-year probation sentence. In 2019, he announced his intention not to return to the entertainment industry. However, in April 2022, he participated in BIGBANG’s digital single “Still Life” before leaving YG Entertainment. T.O.P. recently confirmed through a social media post that he is no longer part of the group.

Meanwhile, the new additions to Squid Game 2’s cast include Park Gyu-young (Sweet Home), Jo Yu-ri of Iz*One, Kang Ae-sim (Move to Heaven), Lee David (The Fortress and Svaha: The Sixth Finger), Lee Jin-uk (Miss Granny and Sweet Home), Roh Jae-Won (Missing Yoon and Ditto), and Won Ji-an (Heartbeat).

All these controversies have raised concerns among fans about the show’s reputation, and some have criticized the director’s decision to proceed with the controversial cast. Many viewers have even chosen not to watch the show as a result.

Squid Game, which premiered in 2021 on Netflix, quickly gained a global fan base. The series revolves around individuals who risk their lives in deadly games to win a life-changing cash prize. Through a series of terrifying and brutal childhood games, players are eliminated until only one winner remains. Fans may have to wait a little longer before returning to the games.
