With possibility of an untoward incident which may lead to loss of human life, prohibitory orders have been imposed for the next 60 days.

Authorities have implemented a ban on tourist entry to the Madhe Ghat waterfall in Pune district for rappelling over the next 60 days. This measure aims to prevent any unfortunate incidents during the monsoon season. The waterfall, situated between Kelad and Bhirdi villages in Velhe tehsil, is a popular tourist destination where organizers arrange rappelling activities. Visitors can descend 200 to 300 feet along the cascading waterfall by holding onto a rope fastened to the top of the slope.

Due to heavy rainfall in the area, the organizers of adventure sports in this region have been facilitating tourists to rappel down the waterfall. However, to avoid any potential incidents that may cause loss of life, prohibitory orders are in effect for the next 60 days,” stated an official release.

The order to implement the ban was issued by Rajendra Kachare, sub-divisional magistrate of Bhor division. Violators will face legal prosecution under relevant sections of the IPC and the Disaster Management Act.
